BABSEA CLE invites Applications for International Legal Studies Externship Clinic
Clinic Term: Nov. 2012 - Feb. 2013
Bridges Across Borders Southeast Asia Community Legal Education Initiative (BABSEA CLE) is now accepting applications for its Nov 2012- Feb 2013 International Legal Studies Externship Clinic.
Beginning in 2004, BABSEA CLE externs have been doing "hands-on" social justice work in Cambodia and then in Thailand, Viet Nam, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia.
Through the BABSEA CLE clinic, legal studies externs achieve a greater understanding of the dynamic relationship between academic knowledge and its practical application to the legal and access to justice issues that arise in communities. The program is not limited to students studying in the legal field, it is also open to non-law students, people who have graduated, and those who are already professionally working.
The BABSEA CLE International Legal Studies Externship Clinic offers an opportunity to make a real contribution helping people achieve access to justice in Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Laos and Cambodia while being involved in a remarkable experience of living and working in the Southeast Asia region.
Participation in the clinic is by competitive application. Applicants are invited to indicate their preference for a fulltime externship in Thailand or participate in a split externship between Thailand and another externship placement country. Please note that while such requests for split or fulltime placements are considered, placement options are not guaranteed and BABSEA CLE will make the final placement decision.
This year's clinic begins on 26 November 2012 and runs through 10 February 2013.
