PILnet Fellows
PILnet Fellows participate in an eight-month program that combines academic and practical training with the purpose of educating and building the capacity of a new generation of public interest advocates in selected countries around the world. Fellows are nominated by local NGOs to which they return at the end of the program to implement a project developed during their fellowship period in New York. Fellows spend the first semester of the program at Columbia Law School, where they take courses in human rights and public interest law. In the spring, Fellows participate in study visits to Washington, D.C. and various European cities, followed by an internship at a public interest law organization in New York.
PILnet has transformed the lives and careers of almost 100 public interest lawyers from 33 countries through its Fellowship.
