Achievement:

Their project spanned from 24 June 2019, and still on-going.

  1. PILOT Scheme
Their pilot scheme consists of four talks at the centre of their partner NGO – SAGE Tsuen Wan District Elderly Community Centre (SAGE). The main aim of the workshops is to instill the elderly with the importance of having a valid will and the relevant procedures in Hong Kong. The first talk was held successfully on 10 August 2019.
  2. Recruitment of Student Volunteers
8 student applicants from the Faculty of Law were chosen to be their volunteers for this cohort. Two training sessions were held. In the first training, they discussed the interview questions and gave a more detailed presentation on the background and running of their project. In the second training, the group of volunteers who were responsible for Workshop 1 gave a mock presentation on the workshop materials.
  3. Workshops
A total of three workshops were held from October to November 2019. Each workshop had around 20-25 elderly attendees. The first workshop was on the general topic of Three Instruments of Peace. Three student volunteers were present to conduct the workshop.
  4. Collaboration with law firms
Before the kick-off of their pilot scheme, they reached out to several potential law firms as legal partners. Their legal partners agreed to take up pro-bono will-writing cases as well as to advise their team on legal questions collected from the workshops.
