The demand for Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) criteria in investing has seen exponential growth in recent years. The ESG trend and the incentives it creates for businesses and investors provide unique advocacy opportunities for CSOs to influence institutional investment policies and corporate behaviors with unprecedented efficacy and precision.
Realizing that many CSOs and NGOs may not be aware of these trends and the opportunities they offer, PILnet and ISHR are convening an introductory webinar aimed at providing a basic overview for CSOs and activists to increase their knowledge about the ESG criteria and allow them to identify possible opportunities and gaps in their advocacy strategies.
The training will provide an overview and context of ESG as a current phenomenon, to outline opportunities it offers for civil society for fostering social change, advocacy, and influence over businesses in contributing to positive social change and respect for human rights in the context in which they operate.
Provide initial understanding about implications ESG may have on the strategic design of CSOs’ advocacy actions, enabling them to better identify needs and opportunities. Participants having attended the webinar will have a better understanding of the ESG framework and the opportunities it offers for their work and will be better able to absorb this phenomenon as a new reality in the way businesses operate.
While DLA Piper kindly offered to prepare the introductory webinar/training, PILnet and ISHR would like to build this into a full-fledged training program/ online course hosted on the PILnet learning platform, and therefore we are surveying interest of our Pro Bono Law Firm partners to help with this endeavor. Please share areas of your expertise and indicate your interest via this short survey. Please submit your responses by October 31.
