Janie Wong, counsel in Dechert’s Hong Kong office, is a member of the white collar and securities litigation group. Throughout her career, she has had the privilege to be involved with a number of pro bono and community initiatives. Examples include assisting with efforts to establish an independent national bar association as well as coordinating and conducting legal training workshops in Myanmar (Burma). She was also part of a global team representing the International Bar Association’s Human Trafficking Task Force in its efforts to organise anti-human trafficking training programmes around the world. In addition to specific representations of multiple NGOs and individuals in Hong Kong, she helped launch the pilot scheme for international law firms participating in the Duty Lawyer Service which was aimed at improving access to free preliminary legal advice by members of the public.
