May Poon

May Ting is an associate in the firm's finance team. She has experience in advising financial institutions, bank syndicates, Hong Kong listed companies and Chinese state-owned enterprises in general banking and debt restructuring. She also has experience in advising lenders and borrowers on bilateral and syndicated, secured and unsecured, corporate loans, margin loans, refinances and acquisition financings. She has spent time on secondment in New York advising on corporate matters and on client secondment at CCB International in Hong Kong advising their direct investment teams. She obtained her Bachelor in Laws at Queen Mary, University of London and was called to the Bar of England and Wales. She studied the PCLL at The Chinese University of Hong Kong on a Distinguished Scholarship and is admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong. She has a keen interest in pro bono work and she is particularly passionate about helping women who are, or are vulnerable to, domestic violence and human trafficking. Within Herbert Smith Freehills, May Ting is an active member of the Go Green team and is focused on implementing green initiatives in the office.
