Kimberly Reed is a former big-firm partner who has managed a boutique international business law firm for over fifteen years, representing U.S. and foreign clients on mergers & acquisitions, cross-border transactions, project finance, and nonprofit/NGO law. She has worked on transactions in over 70 countries. Prior to opening her firm, Reed International Law & Consulting, she was Hogen Lovells' pro bono partner in Moscow. Now, in addition to her law practice, she is a Professor at the University of Virginia Law School, a top-five law school in the US. She was also an Adjunct Professor and Assistant Dean at the University of North Carolina School of Law from 1995 to 2001. Ms. Reed has worked on seven US Presidential campaigns, including serving on Barack Obama’s senior campaign staff as the Director of International Operations in 2007-08, where she created and managed the first worldwide political campaign field operation, comprising staff and volunteers in over 70 countries, and travelled around the world as President Obama’s surrogate to American expats and foreign leaders. She has worked on numerous Congressional, state and local races, has been a Democratic Party precinct chair, and is a Chief Election Judge in Maryland. She worked at The White House Offices of Communications and Presidential Correspondence during President Bill Clinton’s administration. In addition to the PILnet Board and PILnet Foundation’s Supervisory Board in Hungary, Ms. Reed serves on several other charitable boards, including at her alma mater, Duke University, and in her community in suburban Maryland.
