On 19 June 2024, PILnet hosted an AML training in Hong Kong with over 40 NGO participants.

The event started with a training session by a team of lawyers from Davis Polk & Wardwell, namely Yuan Zheng, Eleanor Tang, and Lok Cheung. They gave an overview of AML laws in Hong Kong, and used a series of case studies to help NGOs learn to identify and address AML risks, particularly in relation to their fundraising activities.

This was followed by sharing from Catherine Durant, the Director of Operations at Enrich, a local NGO supporting migrant domestic workers. Catherine explained why Enrich decided to adopt an AML policy, and how they customized PILnet’s template AML policy to address the specific needs of their NGO.

Finally, the event wrapped up with an interactive Q&A session.

We are grateful to Davis Polk & Wardwell and Enrich for their support, and to all those who joined us at the event whether virtually or in-person!
