India.

Working on law reform activities.

In India, there was no law that defined the reduction limit of greenhouse gasses. We had long demanded such a law. In the absence of a law that mandates and estimates the reduction of greenhouse gasses, the climate is affected very badly. In 2015, that law came in the form of a bill – the Climate Change Bill 2015. I reviewed it and found errors in it. I made a submission to the Indian government Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change with respect to these errors. In particular, the errors in this Bill were that it had not specified any law enforcement authority and did not specify a legal audit to measure how well the law was being implemented. So I informed the Ministry about these errors. My hope is that the government of India will correct the Bill’s errors in order to make a better climate change law.
