With a focus on the impact of climate change on investments, Investor Group on Climate Change (IGCC) is a collaboration of Australian and New Zealand institutional investors managing over $2 trillion of total funds. IGCC recognise that climate change will impact investments and that there is an economic transition underway that is accelerating at a rapid pace. The response adopted by IGCC is founded in a science based assessment of carbon constrains with a goal of reaching a climate-resilient net zero emissions economy by 2050.

Since early 2020, MinterEllison has provided pro bono support to IGCC through providing advice surrounding the structuring of the entity and more recently, assisting them to transition from an Incorporated Association to a Company Limited by Guarantee. In addition to this, MinterEllison has done a wholistic governance review, which included amending and drafting an entire suite of legal documents in order to accommodate growth and capture the entities objects. Among other things, IGCC works to sufficiently represent the interest of the public and the investment industry in climate change, research and evaluate approaches relating to the potential impacts on investments resulting from climate change, as well as to influence and stimulate the investment industry and corporate sector to incorporate climate change strategies and implementation procedures.
