On 5 June 2025, PILnet concluded the fourth round of our Public Interest Law Mentorship Program with an inspiring Closing Event, featuring valuable insights from speakers and a celebration of participants’ achievements throughout the program.
The event began with a discussion with Kay Chan from Admiralty Chambers, who shared his experiences balancing a successful career as a barrister while engaging in pro bono work. His practical tips and personal anecdotes encouraged mentees to think carefully about what they want to achieve with their legal education, and how they could contribute to the greater good by dedicating time to pro bono work.
Participants then heard from Celine Chan, Executive Director of Justice Without Borders, and her mentee from the program who shared the impactful experiences they have had with public interest work, and the lessons they have learnt during their mentorship. Their discussion echoed the transformative power of guidance and collaboration in the field of public interest law.

We are grateful to all mentors and mentees for their contributions to the program, and look forward to staying in touch as they continue their meaningful work for the public interest.
