On 20 November 2024, we celebrated the completion of the third round of our Public Interest Law Mentorship Program with a Closing Event, hosted at the Akin Gump offices.

Attendees heard from Jaime Wong – Co-Head of Office at Justice Without Borders and a co-founder of the Access to Justice Fellowship who shared her experience of working in public interest law after having been interested in this sector since her time at university. This was followed by a sharing from Charis Ma – associate at Akin Gump and a mentor in this round of the Mentorship Program – and her mentee Thomas, about their takeaways from the Mentorship Program and insights on pro bono legal work.

After this sharing, attendees spent time networking and reflecting on their mentorships over the past four months, with many sharing that the Mentorship Program has allowed them to gain knowledge and build meaningful relationships with other individuals committed to public interest law.

We are thankful to all the mentors for providing their guidance and insights to nurture our next generation of public interest professionals, and to all the mentees for their enthusiasm, openness, and commitment to learning about public interest law.
