PILnet will host the Asia Regional Roundtable on Environment & Climate Change on August 26, 2021 at 4pm HKT. This event will highlight how lawyers are in a unique position to make a difference in the fight against climate change and feature opportunities for them to provide pro bono support for a number of environmental initiatives.

The event will be held virtually via Zoom. Registration closes at 6 pm HKT on August 24 2021. Registered participants will receive a list of matters before the Roundtable.

Event Details

The Roundtable will open with a short introduction from the Australian Pro Bono Centre, sharing how lawyers are successfully combating climate change through pro bono and suggestions around how to manage concerns regarding commercial conflicts of interest.

NGOs dedicated to environmental protection will then have a chance to present a variety of pro bono opportunities in the region. Lawyers can engage with them directly to learn more and see how they can get involved.

Participating organizations include Civic ExchangeClean Air NetworkClientEarth, and Cuttlefish. The opportunities cover jurisdictions including Hong Kong, China, Japan, Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand.
