PILnet is proud to be part of the Coalition Against SLAPPs in Europe (CASE), a partnership of NGOs from across Europe representing a range of different public watchdogs united in recognition of the threat posed to their work by Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation (SLAPPs), abusive lawsuits designed to silence critical speech.
The CASE website serves as a repository of materials to assist public watchdogs in responding to legal attacks, hosts research CASE is conducting on legal intimidation and other data, and maps out legal services and pro bono lawyers available across Europe.
We invite you to read more about the impact of the coalition in the recently launched 2023 CASE Report Update. As CASE continues to map SLAPP cases on a rolling basis, the 2023 report provides the most recent overview of data collected. The updated analysis comprises 200+ abusive lawsuits filed after the first reporting period, and a broader regional scope.
