Ali Al-Karim is a leading barrister in public international law, arbitration, and sanctions. He is currently acting in some of the most landmark international law cases in the ICJ, ECHR, Inter-American Court of Human Rights, and domestic courts. He is lead counsel for a number of NGOs in the Advisory Opinion on climate change in the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, and is acting for a number of parties on the Advisory Opinion on climate change in the ICJ. Ali has experience acting in cases on the Paris Agreement in the English courts and regularly acts in ESG litigation. He also acts in other domestic courts, including Mexico, Kenya, and Colombia. Ali is shortlisted for International Barrister of the Year 2024 at the Bar Pro Bono Awards.
