Angela Vigil

Speaker: The Practice of Pro Bono: A training series for lawyers in Africa Angela Vigil is Partner and Executive Director of Global Pro Bono at the law firm of Baker McKenzie. Ms. Vigil's works spans the globe in children's law where she has an active practice in the representation of children in trial courts, appeals, human rights forums, and public policy settings. Focused on reimagining child rights systems and policies, her human rights and public international law work includes international legal rights of street-connected children, challenging the deprivation of liberty of children in systems, and training lawyers and advocates to advocate for the rights of youth in conflict with the law, in need of protection, and involved in human trafficking, sexual violence and denied access to justice in many fora. A trial lawyer and faculty member for the National Institute for Trial Advocacy, Angela represents foster youth, refugee and immigrant children, trafficking victims, and those deprived of liberty. She is a frequent presenter around the globe on the synergy between child rights and the rule of law, youth and the Sustainable Development Goals, U.S. Supreme Court focused on youth defense, pro bono, human rights, and access to justice. She is a proud wife and mother of four fantastic teenagers who are future changemakers themselves.
