Anne Geraghty Helms, Director and Counsel for US Pro Bono Programs, DLA Piper Helms is responsible for helping to develop, lead and manage DLA Piper’s pro bono program in the United States. With Legal Aid Chicago, she helped found and manages the firm's free legal clinic in the Woodlawn neighborhood of Chicago, as well as a brief advice clinic for domestic violence victims in a suburban courthouse. She also worked with Legal Aid Chicago to found the Eviction Brief Advice Desk, a service for those facing eviction in Cook County. She currently is working with community leaders to design a virtual version of this program for once the city lifts its eviction moratorium. In 2012, Anne co-drafted the Report of the Legal Services Corporation's Pro Bono Task Force. In her own practice, she has represented children and young adults in juvenile and criminal matters, tenants in eviction court, individuals seeking immigration relief, and individuals in prisoner’s rights matters. She has presented at law schools in Mexico City on pro bono and juvenile justice through the firm's New Perimeter project. She serves on the board of the Chicago Bar Foundation and as Co-Chair of the ABA’s Children’s Rights Litigation Committee.
