As Director of Partnerships, Deepa is responsible for supporting equitable partnerships with local civil society organizations through inclusive advocacy, campaigns and capacity strengthening initiatives - with the goal of transforming the refugee response sector into one that is accountable, equitable and that ultimately leads to greater refugee human rights. Deepa was the founding Director of Asylum Access Malaysia, and has worked and consulted with the International Detention Coalition (IDC), UNHCR, and Statelessness Network Asia Pacific (SNAP). Deepa has an LL.B from the University of London, and a LL.M from Columbia Law School, which she received as a Fulbright Scholar. She has been admitted to the Bar of England and Wales, and previously practiced as a corporate litigator.
