Maria McCloskey

Maria McCloskey is the Director of The Public Interest Litigation Support Project (PILS). A solicitor advocate, Maria has over 15 years’ experience in legal practice. Further to a volunteer placement with Young Africa in Mozambique in 2013, Maria graduated from Queen’s University, Belfast with an LLM in Human Rights Law. She acted as Legal Consultant to Barnardo’s Independent Guardian Service, was Project Coordinator at Northern Ireland Community of Refugees and Asylum Seekers (NICRAS), and practiced as an Immigration Solicitor at Children’s Law Centre, representing unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and child victims of trafficking. Maria joined PILS in March 2022 and is currently Chair of the Law Society of Northern Ireland’s Human Rights and Equality Working Group.
