Sadiq Ibrahim
Sadiq Ibraheem Abubakar is currently a student of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He is another victim of police brutality in Nigeria, who was unlawfully profiled for his ethnic background and religious affiliation. Sadiq was in his house performing ablution for zuhr prayers on May 19, 2020, when men of the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigeria Police dressed in mufti stormed into the premises in a gestapo fashion. Seeing the policemen, and in a belief that they were armed robbers, Sadiq tried to scale the fence into his neighbour’s compound. A member of the SARS team shot Sadiq in the arm, then arrested and handcuffed him in the pool of his blood. Spaces for Change legal team took up the case under her free legal services and diligently prosecuted the case before the #EndSARS Investigative Tribunal in Abuja.
