Moderator: Understanding a Trafficking Survivor's Journey, October 20 Sophie Otiende describes herself as a feminist, teacher, and survivor advocate for human trafficking. She has worked with grassroots organizations for the last decade, primarily in program development, management, and fundraising. She is dedicated to growing grassroots organizations to develop programs that influence policy change and ensuring that survivors are included in all interventions. For the past, seven years she worked with Awareness Against Human Trafficking to start and manage their protection department. In this capacity, she coordinated all services offered to survivors of trafficking, started a shelter dedicated to survivors of trafficking and also authored three manuals on creating awareness on human trafficking and best practices for assisting survivors of trafficking. She currently serves at the board of HAART and works for Liberty Shared as the Regional Operations Manager - Africa where she works with organizations to train on data management, ethical case management practices and implement Liberty Shared's Victims Case Management System. She is also the recipient of the Trafficking in Persons Report Hero 2020.
