Speaker: How Pro Bono Lawyers Can Help Unaccompanied and Undocumented Children in Europe Gain Safety and Stability, October 20 Sue Bent is Director of Central England Law Centre, a charity which employs solicitors and advisors to provide free, independent advice and representation in areas of social welfare law, like housing, community care, welfare benefits, immigration and employment law. Much of its work focuses on migrant rights, advising not just on immigration and asylum, but on issues where status impacts on other rights, like entitlement to benefits; access to housing; protection from domestic violence. Sue has been in this post for 13 years and before that she was Director of Operations at Heart of England Housing Group, a housing association in Stratford upon Avon, and Head of Housing Management and Neighbourhood and Community Services at Coventry City Council. Central England Law Centre is the lead partner on Kids in Need of Defence UK, a collaboration between 5 NGOs which is unlocking pro bono capacity nationwide to provide advice and representation for children in immigration cases.
