On 4 June 2024, the Hong Kong Pro Bono Roundtable gathered for the second meeting of the year, where the topic of discussion was on how pro bono can support the work of environmental NGOs in Hong Kong. The meeting opened with sharing by Lawrence Iu, Executive Director of Civic Exchange, a Hong Kong-based public-policy think tank. Lawrence spoke on the issue of climate change and the need for a legal framework for carbon neutrality in Hong Kong, including how pro bono efforts have furthered this work and can continue to do so.

This sharing was followed by a group discussion, where participating lawyers exchanged thoughts on a variety of related topics, including sustainable bonds, green fintech, greenwashing, etc., all with an emphasis on pro bono in Hong Kong. We are grateful to Cooley for hosting and moderating the Q2 Roundtable, and look forward to more fruitful conversations ahead!
