The Hong Kong Pro Bono Roundtable held its third meeting of 2025 on 16 September, generously hosted by Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP.
The discussion centered around Pro Bono Collaborations with Social Enterprises (SEs), with insightful contributions from representatives of 4 Social Enterprises – Fullness Social Enterprises Society Limited (FSES), Hong Kong Social Enterprise Pharma Limited (HKSEP), Diamond Cab, and iEnterprise. They highlighted the operational difference between NGOs and SEs and the key challenges SEs face, particularly those arising from a lack of structured support and legal representation due to eligibility issues. The lively discussion ultimately led to a productive brainstorming session on how lawyers can provide pro bono assistance and facilitation to these special entities that provide social impact to the community.
We are grateful to all the speakers and participants for the engaging discussions, and for Simpson Thacher & Bartlett for hosting the event. We hope the Roundtable has inspired more legal professionals to contribute their time and skills for Hong Kong’s Social Enterprises.
