Kick-off Session

PILnet launched a new initiative with the NGO Governance Platform Project of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS) to enhance the governance capacity of social service organizations. Seven law firms — Herbert Smith, Kirkland & Ellis, Mayer Brown, Morgan Lewis, Skadden, Weil, and White & Case — will provide pro bono services to nine NGOs to either create a governance handbook or review and update NGO’s Articles of Association.

A kick-off session was held for the participating NGOs to meet with their pro bono lawyers in October. Leontine Chuang, PILnet’s Director for Hong Kong, shared the importance of developing and updating governance documents to building the resiliency of organizations.
