From November 21-25, PILnet and our partners held the fourth annual European Pro Bono Week. This year, European Pro Bono Week was organized around the topic of Pro Bono in Times of Crises.
Eleven European countries, including Hungary, Ireland, Poland, and Spain, participated in the event and organized virtual and in-person sessions on current challenges as well as successful pro bono collaborations on topics such as the Russian invasion of Ukraine, refugees and displaced persons, NGO organizational health, children’s rights, and climate law.
The week started with a joint virtual event, featuring speakers Janez Lenarčič from the European Commission, Olga Vorontsova-Mykhailova from the UNHCR, Zuzanna Rudzińska-Bluszcz from ClientEarth, Lucy Westcott from the Committee to Protect Journalists, and Phil Worthington from the European Lawyers in Lesvos. You can view a recording of the virtual event here.
European Pro Bono Week is an annual initiative, which began in 2019 and is organized collaboratively by PILnet, law firms members of the European Pro Bono Initiative, and pro bono clearinghouses and organizations.
