On September 10 PILnet in partnership with Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP, A&O Sherman, UNHCR, and Refugee Congress, organized the 2026 U.S. Refugee Rights Pro Bono Workshop.
The Workshop was designed to assist refugee-led organizations, nonprofits, and community-based groups, access to pro bono legal support. During the Workshop, examples of pro bono partnerships that have supported refugees, asylum seekers, and stateless communities, offering a practical look at what a successful partnership can make possible were highlighted.
The workshop formed the first stage of a broader partnership-building process leading towards the US Refugee Rights Pro Bono Pitching Roundtables, planned for October 2026.
Legal requests and Roundtable projects must be submitted by an organisation and should address organisational or programmatic legal needs. Project ideas can be shared through the PILnet Legal Assistance Intake Form.
Following submission, the PILnet team will review each request and contact organisations to discuss the next steps, including project scoping where appropriate.
