European Pro Bono Initiative (EPBI) and PILnet, together with the Federation of European Bars (FBE), invite you for a closed-door session on “European Bars and Pro Bono”. The session will provide an opportunity for European Bars to exchange information on their pro bono policies and offer a venue for Bars to discuss different approaches to pro bono. The participating Bars will have the chance to exchange information on best practices and provide insights into pro bono projects they run. They will also have the chance to voice their concerns about their members’ pro bono activities and discuss the reasons for barriers that exist for pro bono.
The session will be adjacent to the PILnet Global Forum taking place in Brussels between October 16 and October 18, 2023. PILnet’s Global Forum convenes around 400 lawyers and advocates from around the world to forge alliances and develop strategies for using the law to protect civil society and the communities they serve. It features presentations, interactive workshops, social events, and structured networking opportunities for attendees to collaborate, communicate and coordinate on pro bono. The opportunity to join the European Bars and Pro Bono closed-door session may be a good occasion, if you are available, to join PILnet’s Global Forum in-person in Brussels. Nonetheless, if you are not available to travel, both can be attended remotely.
The president of the Brussels Bar, who is in the Host Committee of the PILnet Forum, will co-host the European Bars and Pro Bono session along with the President of the Federation of European Bars.
Bar representatives who are interested in participating can fill in the form here or send an email to Grace Wilkinson at [email protected] to register.
Chatham House rule will apply.
This is a hybrid event. The in-person venue is DLA Piper, Tweed Building, Rue aux Laines 70, 1000 Bruxelles, Belgium.
