The PILnet Board of Directors are pleased to announce that Julia Mayerhofer and Andrej Nosko have been appointed Co-Executive Directors of PILnet—positions they have held on an interim basis since August 2022.

Julia has most recently served as PILnet’s Director for Asia and was responsible for overseeing the expansion of Hong Kong programming, including our programming focused on refugees and people in the move in that region. Andrej has most recently served as the Director for Europe and was vital in establishing PILnet’s environment and climate justice program.

Looking forward, the Co-Executive Directors will lead PILnet’s implementation of its new strategic plan which focuses the organization’s attention, resources, and efforts across those programs and thematic areas where the need is most urgent, including protecting, increasing the resilience of and expanding civic space; enabling access to justice for refugees and people on the move; and advancing environmental and climate justice. Focusing on these priority areas will maximize PILnet’s impact and ensure that both the organization and the civil society sector continue to evolve and thrive well into the future. More details about this plan will be shared with you soon.

As PILnet’s Co-Executive Directors, Julia and Andrej will also oversee planning the 2023 PILnet Global Forum, which will take place in Brussels from October 16-18. We look forward to seeing you all there!

The Co-Executive Directors are supported in their roles by our excellent and dedicated legal, program, finance, and communications staff who make up the global PILnet team. This includes Toby Greenfield, who will take on the role of Director for New York and serve as the senior executive in the New York office while continuing to serve as PILnet’s Director of Development and Communications.

Please join us in congratulating Julia Mayerhofer and Andrej Nosko for their appointment as PILnet’s Co-Executive Directors as they lead PILnet into its next stage. We are excited about the future of the organization and look forward to continuing to improve and expand legal resources for civil society around the world in collaboration with our close partners like you.

Sincerely,

Eric Koenig and Diane Stewart
