PILnet strengthens civil society across sub-Saharan Africa by advancing pro bono and public interest law in ways that are locally relevant and rooted in the wider legal ecosystem. By connecting Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) with legal professionals and building strong pro bono networks, PILnet empowers communities, expands legal awareness, and drives impact in areas such as civic space, climate justice, and forced displacement. Central to this work is a commitment to equitable partnership—co-designing programs alongside African CSOs and legal professionals, ensuring their expertise and priorities are at the core, and investing in long-term institutional capacity. Through collaboration built on trust, transparency, and shared ownership, PILnet strengthens local legal ecosystems and supports sustainable, community-driven solutions.
