Organized collaboratively by PILnet, law firms affiliated with the European Pro Bono Initiative, and various regional pro bono clearinghouses and organizations, this annual event has become a cornerstone in acknowledging and celebrating the crucial role played by volunteer lawyers.
Virtual Kick-off and a Week of Empowering Events
The week commenced with a virtual pan-European opening event on Monday, November 20, setting the stage for a series of impactful events throughout the week around this year’s theme, Maximizing the Impact of Pro Bono. From thought-provoking webinars to in-person gatherings, law firms, clearinghouses, and NGOs organized a diverse array of activities, all aimed at promoting access to justice for those in need.
Throughout the European Pro Bono Week, participants engaged in discussions on pressing legal issues, shared best practices, and explored innovative solutions to address challenges faced by marginalized communities. Looking Forward: European Pro Bono Week 2024
As we celebrate the success of the 2023 edition, we are excited to share on behalf of the European Pro Bono Week steering committee the dates for the next European Pro Bono Week. Mark your calendars for June 10-14, 2024.These dates were chosen in response to feedback from country-event organizers and in consultation with participants across Europe. Recognizing the diversity of preferences of the wide array of pro bono week organizers and participants, there has been careful consideration of the optimal timing for the European Pro Bono Week, hoping the new timing will help to further increase engagement of pro bono volunteers who are particularly busy in the fall before the year’s end. Following these discussions, we’re pleased to announce on behalf of the European Pro Bono Week steering committee a shift from November to June. Save the dates for June 10-14, 2024. As the next European Pro Bono Week unfolds, we anticipate a week of inspiring events, shared knowledge, and a collective commitment to making justice accessible for all.
