2026 European Pro Bono Week Schedule

Kathryn Beck is an international lawyer who has spent her career working to achieve positive social change and strengthen civil society through the power of the law and pro bono. Kathryn is the Head of Legal for TrustLaw – the global legal pro bono network of the Thomson Reuters Foundation – where she works with legal teams around the world to facilitate pro bono legal support for NGOs and social enterprises, and to develop strategic research, resources, and training around pro bono, human rights, responsible business, and media freedom. Prior to her current role, Kathryn worked in private practice and in-house with a focus on the charities and non-profit sector.

Carlotta Besozzi is the Director of Civil Society Europe, the coordination of European Platforms of non-profit associations at the EU level, representing different sectors within civil society such as human rights, environment, international cooperation, social inclusion, culture, education, health, civic rights, transparency, and active in promoting an enabling civic space in Europe and dialogue with the European Union Institutions. She holds a degree in Philosophy from the Université Catholique de Louvain, Belgium. She has worked most of her career in the civil society sector after a few years at the European Parliament as a Political and Research Parliamentary Assistant. Previous to managing Civil Society Europe, she was the Director of the European Disability Forum for a decade.

Toby Brown is a barrister in London practising in commercial litigation and insolvency. He has supported various pro bono initiatives in the UK since 2008, including chairing the organising committee for UK Pro Bono Week. In 2023, he was appointed Chair of the steering group of the Attorney General’s Pro Bono Committee of England & Wales. The committee is responsible for the Pro Bono Recognition List of England & Wales, which in its third year celebrated 5,550 lawyers for providing 25 hours pro bono last year. Internationally, Toby has enjoyed collaborating with colleagues to support jurisdictions arranging their own pro bono week or other annual pro bono celebration.

Marion Edge is pro bono counsel at Dechert LLP, based in London. She is responsible for their pro bono practice across Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Dechert’s pro bono program provides legal advice and representation to individuals, not-for-profit organizations and social enterprises that could not otherwise afford it.

Lune (they / them) is the project officer of the only Dutch Clearinghouse Pro Bono Connect. They work on supporting civil society throughout the entire country, by connecting them to Pro Bono lawyers through matching, workshops, and relationship-building.

With experience of working within different CSO’s, they bring the humble position of increasing access to justice for every organization trying to better our society. Being one of the youngest in the field, they bring innovative passion, motivating everyone to do their bit for their community.

Lauren manages Latham’s pro bono practice across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. She works closely with Latham’s Pro Bono Committee, developing new pro bono initiatives and legal clinics in collaboration with nonprofit organisations, the firm’s global affinity groups, sustainability team, and commercial clients. Lauren has cultivated a range of initiatives and partnerships, including the Windrush Justice Initiative, the Domestic Abuse Response Alliance, the Bronzefield Prison legal clinic with Not Beyond Redemption, a veterans initiative with Fighting With Pride, the Housing Disrepair Project with University House, and the Global Pro Bono Guide. Before joining Latham, Lauren was Head of Legal at TrustLaw, Thomson Reuters Foundation’s global pro bono programme. She previously practised as a corporate solicitor at a bank and as a corporate attorney at a South African law firm.

Eve Runyon is the President and CEO of Pro Bono Institute (PBI), where she leads the organization’s efforts to enhance and expand pro bono legal services by major law firms and in-house legal departments to advance access to justice for all.

Eve joined PBI in 2005 to direct the Corporate Pro Bono (CPBO) project, PBI’s global initiative focused on in-house pro bono. Under her leadership, CPBO has launched numerous innovative programs to deepen and expand the pro bono commitment of in-house legal departments.

Before joining PBI, Eve practiced law at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP in Washington, D.C., where she also participated in the firm’s Loaned Associate Program through an externship with the Legal Aid Society of D.C.

Eve graduated from the University of Virginia and Yale Law School.

Francesco Zatelli leads Pro Publico, the Brussels-based clearinghouse connecting civil society actors with top law firms volunteering their expertise and advice pro bono publico.

The objective is to empower grassroots movements, CSOs, civic start-ups, social enterprises, and think-tanks with free high-quality legal assistance in consideration of their societal impact.

His background is in corporate and investment counseling, where he has experience in legal and fiscal matters as well as business development and sustainability.

His alma mater is the University of Bologna, and he has also studied at King’s College London, Rey Juan Carlos in Madrid, Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, and more recently at the Hertie School.
